Discord weather bot not sending alerts?
Work through these checks to confirm your Bayou Radar server setup and message delivery.
1. Your Discord server is missing
The dashboard lists servers where your Discord account can manage the server. Confirm that you signed in with the right account and have Manage Server permission. After permissions change, use Refresh Discord Access from your dashboard.
2. The bot is not installed or connected
Open the server dashboard and check its installation status. Use the server’s Install Bot link when needed. Authorizing the website to read your manageable servers and installing the bot are separate steps.
3. The alert channel cannot receive messages
Choose a standard text or announcement channel. Check channel and category permission overrides for the bot. It needs:
- View Channel
- Send Messages
- Embed Links
- Read Message History
A permission allowed at the server level can still be denied by the channel. Save the subscription after choosing a valid channel, then send a test.
4. Messages arrive, but the role is not notified
The selected role must belong to that server and be mentionable, or the bot must have permission to mention roles. Check the subscription’s update-mention option too: it controls whether revisions mention the role again.
A delivered role mention does not override a member’s Discord notification preferences. Check channel mutes and personal notification settings when investigating missing notifications.
5. The test works, but a weather alert is missing
Confirm the saved state and county or parish, the selected alert level, and whether the official alert applies to that area. Warnings Only excludes watches, and Watches and Warnings excludes advisory-only products. The announce-existing option controls whether alerts already active when you add coverage are announced.
Review recent delivery history in the server dashboard. Existing posts may have been revised instead of creating a second message. Compare alert levels and update behavior.
6. Your coverage exceeds your current plan
Check your account Plan & Billing page. Pro coverage is shared through the linked customer account. If paid coverage has ended, the Free plan’s limits apply while settings are preserved. Review active areas and change Pro-only alert levels as needed, or restore paid coverage.
